{"id":153,"date":"2020-11-16T13:12:13","date_gmt":"2020-11-16T13:12:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/oedipa.org\/?page_id=153"},"modified":"2025-04-28T12:06:11","modified_gmt":"2025-04-28T12:06:11","slug":"speak-red","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/oedipa.org\/?page_id=153","title":{"rendered":"Aphasia New Music Group"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Aphasia New Music Group is a collaboration between adults with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stroke.org.uk\/what-is-aphasia\/aphasia-and-its-effects\">aphasia<\/a>, music makers and speech and language therapists. We get together and make totally new music which explores our feelings and experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since January 2023, we have been making new music as a group. Our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/live\/kYbLoZLnzVk?si=TvT6MF-0nTDZZRBg&amp;t=751\">first performance<\/a> took place at the Bloomsbury Theatre in June 2023. You can see our most recent performance, at Lumen in April 2024, below. We will next be performing later this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project is a collaboration between Oedipa and UCL&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucl.ac.uk\/pals\/research\/language-and-cognition\/ucl-communication-clinic\">Communication Clinic<\/a>, and was supported by Arts Council England and <a href=\"https:\/\/secondmovement.org.uk\">Second Movement<\/a> in 2023-24.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From 2025, the project will continue for three years with support from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.citybridgefoundation.org.uk\">City Bridge Foundation<\/a> and a private donor.
